Double Down, Double Let Down

I finally tried KFC’S new offering - the Double Down. I was really looking forward to it! Who could not like chicken breast, cheese, bacon, cheese, and another chicken breast. Mmmm sounds good!

I was finally able to eat one, after several attempts at getting it (some locations do not offer it). OMJ it sucked!!! What a big disappointment!!! One word to describe it: Salt. What you get is salt, chicken breast, salty sauce, salt, cheese, salt, bacon, salt, cheese, salt, chicken breast, and finally more salt. If you haven’t tried it then save your money because it’s not worth spending $10 for a full combo to get salt. If you really want to try it just get a spoonful of salt and eat that, or get a piece of chicken breast, cover it with salt and enjoy.

The Double Down is a Double NO NO!!

Coffee + Straw = :)

I’m all about drinking my coffee with a straw…yeah, yeah that may be weird, but it’s awesome!
When people see me they stare and have a face that looks like they are seeing some strange out of this world thing…it’s just a coffee and a straw people! What they fail to recognize are the benefits it may have, making the coffee drinking experience much more enjoyable.

The benefits:
v     use the straw to properly stir the cream and sugar
v     reduces spilling in the event the lid is not properly placed on
v     better control of the first sip you take (so you don’t burn your mouth)

NO MAS 3D

The movie industry needs to calm down with this 3D obsession. Almost every movie now is in 3D and 99% of them don’t make good use of it. Touching back on my previous post on Tron: Legacy - like I said before, the movie is watchable but I wouldn’t tell someone to run and see the movie. My main problem with the movie is the fact that is in 3D. I hate wearing those glasses, especially when it doesn’t have a purpose. There was nothing in 3D to see - maybe one or two scenes. It annoys me that Tron: Legacy and all those other 3D movies are heavily advertised as 3D is the greatest and better viewing experience out there when it is just pointless. I don’t need uncomfortable glasses annoying me for a movie that has no 3D in it. Even before the film started viewers were told that most of the movie was 2D but you needed to keep the glasses on for the whole movie…LAME!!!

Even 3D tv’s where you need to wear those glasses at home…hahahaha…that is not going catch on. How uncomfortable is it to be wearing 3D glasses at home when watching your favourite shows or movies….LAME!!

TRON: LEGACY

Tron is an ok movie - nothing spectacular or awesome to say about it. It’s another watchable movie. The storyline is blah…kind of predictable - A new world is created, someone is bad, someone is good, good and bad fight, one of them makes a sacrifice to save the world…and on and on. I’m sure you get the picture. Plus, the explanations given for some of the characters' history were weak and lame, or maybe it was because I didn’t care. Considering its budget of $170 million I was expecting a lot more. It did alright open weekend with $44 million, but given the budget I’m not sure if that is really a good thing. Maybe internationally it will do well. Big budget, big promotion cost …hopefully there is a profit.

Rihanna & Xtina Roar Up the UK

Rihanna and Christina Aguilera performed during the season finale of The X Factor and people in the UK are going bananas. Apparently it was too sexual…. Too much to air before 9pm.

Watch both performances and judge for yourself:

Rihanna performs What’s My Name from her album Loud:

Christina Aguilera performs Express from her first movie Burlesque:

UK folks need to chill and continue to focus on their snow issues (whining on three little snowflakes.) The two performances are what you expect from the two artists - the outfits and dance moves are not shocking at all. UK viewers should just relax and enjoy the show.

Black Swan

Black Swan is a really good movie directed by Darren Aronofsky. I definitely recommend everyone to go see it. Natalie Portman and Mila Kunis's performance were well done. Natalie Portman always seems to do a good job. I liked Mila Kunis in That '70s Show and now I really like her. She can definitely play different characters and make them believable. I am not surprise both of them have been getting recognition as strong contenders for all upcoming awards.

The story is interesting, all actors do a great job, the ending is fitting and good.
Go watch it!

Deadly Multi-layered Pigness

This is crazy!! 79,000 plus calories, lots of flavour and lots of fat. If anyone makes this at home please let me know because I want to try it. Thanks mr R for the video.

Fatty Greatness

Today my coworker got an email showing the reason why Americans are fat. It was a bunch of super sized fatty meals; all the items on the list included a tone of bacon. A lot of them had cheese and most were deep fried. One of those items on the list was The Double Hamburger Fatty Melt. The burger consists of cheese, bacon, cheese, bacon, cheese, bacon, etc. Mmmmm delicious!

I really, really, really want to try it! It looks good! I’m sure I’ll be dying sooner than expected, but hey its food and I love food, therefore I must try it! I’m not really a bacon person…why?...well, most of the time it’s not cooked the way I like it. I like my bacon well cooked and crispy. I do love cheese and the combo of bacon and cheese is pretty good! This burger is pretty easy to make at home to your likings. It’s definitely going on my to eat list.

All you need to make your own are several slices of bread, cheese, bacon, and two beef patties.
The order is:
Ø      Bacon-stuffed grilled cheese sandwich
Ø      Cheese
Ø      Bacon
Ø      4 ounce beef patty
Ø      Bacon- stuffed grilled cheese sandwich
Ø      Bacon
Ø      Cheese
Ø      4 ounce beef patty
Ø      Bacon stuffed grilled cheese sandwich

That sounds awesome!
Enjoy J

Wal-Mart offers everything...

I was checking out Zap2it for my tv & movie update and at the bottom of the main page I found the following:

A comparison of various things you will find in Wal-Mart China & Wal-Mart US. The difference is interesting. The US offers strange humans looking crazy and derange. Clearly these people don't own a mirror or maybe they just like to express their individuality. Some are just gross! China on the other hand, offers a wide variety of items you may want to add to your dinner meal. I can't believe people eat some of those things.... I am willing to try some of them....lol...maybe! Basically it doesn't matter where you are and which Wal-Mart you go to, they all have something for you to look at and say OMJ.

Click on the link if you want to see the comparison:

Back

Puerto Vallarta, Mexico was awesome! It was a week full of rest, sun, non-stop eating and fun. The hotel, Riu Vallarta, was more than what I expected. The weather was perfect. Mexicans and other tourist were friendly. The food was sooo good! The trip was amazing…I wish I was still at the beach lounging with a nice cold drink in my hand.

This past week has been kind of crazy getting back into things so I haven’t had much time to make some posts. New posts should be up soon and I will making several posts during the next week sharing some of the adventures from Mexico.

Fiesta Time

Tomorrow I am off to Puerto Vallarta, Mexico. I am so excited to go and take some time off from work. I’m going to relax, take it easy, enjoy the sun, eat, and have fun. I’ll be in Puerto Vallarta for a week, thus there will be no postings next week.  I will try to post pics or short thoughts if I can (assuming the Wi-Fi at the hotel works and my phone is still functioning).

The Walking Dead

The show premiered two Sundays ago and it’s doing really well on AMC. Two episodes have aired and the show has already been picked up for a second season. I have seen the pilot and wow!!! I really liked the episode. It was more than what I was expecting. The storyline is intriguing, the actors were great and interesting, and the killing scenes were gory…lots of blood.

If you haven’t seen the show you should check it out Sunday nights on AMC.

Awesome VLC

VLC is an open source media player…it’s the best app/media player ever!! It plays every kind of media out there - no matter what kind of audio or video format it is. Awesome! I’m currently watching videos (tv shows) non stop on my phone (making my way to work more enjoyable). I got the application several weeks ago and wow it has changed my life…hahaha…ok ok it has made my life a lot easier. Before the VLC app, I would get my shows, convert the file and upload it to my phone. The converting process was a drag. Now all I do is get my shows and upload it to my phone. No converting needed…more free time. I recommend VLC for everyone. You can download it and use on your computer or phone and best of all it’s free!

Personal Free Day

I got to work yesterday and in the lobby I see a couple kids with their parents. Later on in the morning I see more kids in the halls wondering and exploring the building. It was take your kids to work day...that took me back to my experience in grade 9. I was in a new school, first year of high school, 14 years old and I believe it was the second year that take your kids to work day was in place. I remember my teachers making a big deal that we go to work with our parents, learn something and experience the working life. I was looking forward to it…why?...because it was my personal free day…a day off. Who doesn’t like a day off from school?!?!

I slept in and woke up around noon, had some breakfast, watched some tv and relaxed for the rest of the day. It was an awesome day; no school and no homework. I miss it. The following day all we had to do was comment how the day went at work with our parents….I said that it was great! A lot of my classmates did the same and took it as a day off. Based on the number of kids I saw yesterday, either there is more required once you return to school or the kids are forced or eager to learn about the working life. If they are forced...poor them, they sure missed out on an awesome day of doing nothing - a well needed break from school. If they are eager to learn, wow…good for them... I don't think I would ever skip the opportunity of sleeping in and enjoying a personal day.

Goodbye Paul

R.I.P PAUL - the psychic octopus
The famous psychic octopus has reportedly passed away – he peacefully died in his sleep. Paul became widely known all over the world for his ability to predict the result of a soccer match. During the latest world cup he correctly forecasted all 8 games he was asked to make predictions on. One of those games was the final game between Spain and the Netherlands. He was a true soccer fan! Adios Paul and you will be remembered for many world cups to come!

Waste of time, waste of money…just garbage!

Last night I went to AMC for the advance screening of Paranormal Activity 2 (thanks for the ticks miss DK). I haven’t seen the first one, but I actually wanted to see the second one given the buzz from the first one. The second film sucked! It was so boring until the last 20 or so minutes. The film is all about this paranormal stuff haunting a family and trying to scare the audience…really?!?! No…it was not scary at all, it was a pure let down of cheap suspense. During the first hour you learn about the family and you start seeing weird things happening in the house…BORING! You get creepy music here and there trying to create all this suspense that really has been done over and over before. In this case it sucked even more because the music started low and slowly got louder and then it stopped. Also, on a rare occasion you hear a loud bang…wow…so scary…NOT! Then during the last part of the film crazy stuff happens to the family, but I was so bored and annoyed by the film that I didn’t really care. Sure have people walk all zombie like, people being killed, people dragged around the house, but do a better job getting there so viewers are actually interested…Thanks.

I am so glad I didn’t pay a single cent for this film…it was just garbage!! People save your money and go watch something else. If you really want to see this film then just wait for it on DVD or watch it online or sneak in the theater (yeah that’s right I said it…for this film I actually believe it’s ok to sneak in). As you can tell I really disliked the film and wouldn’t recommend this at all! Some people seemed scared…why…I have no clue! I will not be watching the first Paranormal Activity…well to be honest, I was only going to watch it if it was on tv…haha…now I won’t even bother. Looking back, I truly regret not getting me some nachos and cheese. Food always makes me happy J.

Tim Hortons Lets Me Down

This morning I went to Tim Hortons wanting to try their new oatmeal offerings and I got nada. They are advertising the maple and berries oatmeal but they had neither. I am not a big fan of oatmeal to begin with, so I was already making a big effort with actually going there and ordering it. Now I don’t really care for it. If anyone has tried it or is going to try it, let me know how it is.

Cut the Rope

You should get the game if you don't have it. It's addictive... and fun when you have nothing else going on and when you're on your way to work/school.

I'm done all levels and now I'm waiting for new ones to be added so I can avoid being trapped by those little spiders.

Jackass 3D

I was able to see the movie last night at an advance screening and the movie was…well…funny and gross! The movie was alright, but it’s not something that I would be dying to see.

My issues with the movie:
v     Why was it in 3D??? Porque??? It was completely pointless!
v     Why was there a movie to begin with? Hahaha…ok, ok sure make a movie but really 90 or more minutes of this stuff…um NO! Yes, the stuff they do is crazy and funny, but I was ready to leave midway.
v     They actually charge money for this?? …ok it wasn’t an issue for me since I didn’t pay, but I wouldn’t pay to see this movie.

Funny & Nasty Scenes:
v     Sweat scene…hilarious and just gross!!
v     The apple & pig...lol
v     Last scene with the porta-potty…euwww….hahahaha...cannot believe he did that!

Ps. My collection of 3D glasses continues to grow J

V returns Jan 4, 2011

ABC has announced that V will return January 4, 2011. It will air Tuesday nights at 9pm right after No Ordinary Family.

Good Mistake

Yesterday I forgot my lunch…so I decided to get Manchu Wok…I wanted some chicken wings. Given that I’m eating healthier I decided to go with something else; I ordered steamed rice, mixed vegetables, and grilled chicken. Go me!! When I went to pay, the customer in front of me asked if he was getting the right order. He paid and left. I paid for my order and went to sit down where my lunch peeps were.

When I got to the table I dropped my fork so I had to go back and get a new one. When I got back and opened my container…surprise… it was not my order. I had gotten someone else’s meal. I had noodles, shrimp with vegetables, and beef. So here I was… should I eat it or go back, say something and change it…ummm no!...I was already eating it by the time I finish the thought of taking it back. If the food was in front of me, then it was a sign I should eat it. It was good. Poor guy who got my order; he must have been disappointed and must have gone back and asked for the correct order. The meal I was eating was worth more than the one I had ordered and tasted better. It was a win-win situation for all!

Big Bang Toronto

Three actors from The Big Bang Theory - Simon Helberg (Howard), Kunal Nayyar (Raj) and Emmy-winner Jim Parsons (Sheldon) - are in Toronto today. They are making tv and radio appearances promoting the show, which has become a big hit in Canada; it is the number one comedy in the country. The premier of season four garnered about 3.1 million viewers, making it the second most watched comedy in Canada – just behind the Friends’ finale.

The actors will be at the CTV headquarters - 299 Queen West at 2pm for an etalk special. The live event will also include the Barenaked Ladies and they will be performing the show’s theme song, “The History of Everything.” The show will air Monday, October 11 at 7pm on CTV.

If you are going to the hockey game tonight, you might see them because the actors mentioned that they will be attending the game.

Catch the show Thursday nights at 8pm on CTV
or online at http://www.ctv.ca/
